A considered beginning

Kratom & 7-OH Detoxin Columbia, Tennessee

When a product that seemed manageable becomes difficult to stop, the next step begins with understanding what you have been taking and how it is affecting you.

Understanding the difference

Kratom and concentrated 7-OH are not the same product.

Kratom comes from the leaves of a tropical tree. Products can include leaf powders, capsules and extracts. Its compounds can act on opioid receptors.

7-hydroxymitragynine, often called 7-OH or 7OH, occurs naturally in trace amounts in kratom. Products with added or enhanced 7-OH can contain much higher concentrations and are potent opioid products. They should not be treated as interchangeable with traditional kratom leaf.

The product name, packaging and ingredients are important parts of the conversation. Being sold online or in a retail store does not establish that a product is safe.

Dependence & withdrawal

When stopping becomes difficult.

Some people develop cravings, tolerance or physical dependence with kratom use. Withdrawal can occur when use stops. Concentrated 7-OH products also carry risks of dependence, addiction and withdrawal.

Reported withdrawal symptoms associated with 7-OH include restlessness, body aches, fatigue, irritability and cold sweats. Sleep disruption and gastrointestinal distress have also been reported with these products.

These experiences need context. A product’s contents, pattern of use, other substances and personal health history can all matter when discussing care. A clinical assessment is needed to understand an individual’s withdrawal risk.

The next step in care

Start with the full picture.

A clinical conversation is a place to discuss the exact product, how often it is used, how long use has continued, other medications or substances, and what happens when use is reduced or stopped.

Ask what assessment and support may be appropriate for your circumstances. The right setting and plan depend on individual clinical needs. A clinician can help clarify what support is appropriate for your situation.

When contacting The Lake, tell admissions that your question concerns kratom, a kratom extract or a concentrated 7-OH product. That detail helps frame the conversation about whether The Lake is an appropriate setting.
